For a dog with recurrent ear infections, this may look like treating an ear infection but also talking about some of the triggers and underlying causes of recurrent ear infections, discussing a schedule for regular ear cleaning, and demonstrating how to clean ears effectively at home.

For arthritis, this may look like prescribing medication to reduce pain and inflammation, but also discussing weight management, creating an exercise plan or referring to a rehab specialist, and follow-up by email or phone to assess response and recommend additional medications or supplements as needed.
