Pet Ilness Linked to Jerky Treats

By November 8, 2013 Uncategorized

We would like to remind our clients about the potential risk of feeding their pets jerky treats imported from China.   The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has linked more than 3,600 cases of pet illness to jerky treats made of chicken, duck, sweet potatoes and dried fruit.  Approximately 580 of these pets have died.  While the actual compound within the product causing illness is still unknown, affected pets appear to develop kidney failure and intestinal bleeding in severe cases.  We strongly recommend avoiding all jerky type treats imported from China.
